This Privacy Policy explains how Tots Best (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards personal information when you visit totsbest.com or receive our emails (the “Service”). It also describes your choices and rights under applicable laws (including PIPEDA and CASL) and, where relevant, other privacy regimes.

By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please discontinue use.

1) Who we are & scope

  • Tots Best is a Calgary based site providing informational reviews, roundups, and guides for baby and toddler products.

  • This Policy applies to information collected online through our Website and email communications that we send.

A. Personal Information you provide
  • Contact details: email address, first/last name (if provided).

  • Optional details: postal code, mailing address or phone number (only if you choose to share it for support or inquiries).

  • User submissions: messages or feedback you send us.

B. Usage & device information (collected automatically)
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type/version, device type, OS, screen size, time/date stamps, pages visited, referring URLs, session duration.

  • Approximate location: derived from IP (city/region level).

  • Online identifiers: cookie IDs, and (if we enable advertising features later) mobile advertising IDs.

  • Interaction data: clicks, scrolls, link taps, email opens/clicks.

C. Information from other sources
  • Email platform (MailerLite): subscription status, time/consent records, engagement metrics.

  • Analytics (GA4): aggregated site metrics and events.

  • Social channels: publicly available info you make visible when you interact with our profiles (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest).

  • Retailers/affiliate networks: de-identified conversion reporting (we do not receive your full payment details from retailers).

We do not intentionally collect precise geolocation, health records, or other sensitive categories. Do not submit sensitive information to us.

3) Cookies & similar technologies

We use cookies, pixels, tags, scripts, and similar tools to:

  • enable core functionality;

  • remember preferences;

  • measure performance and email deliverability;

  • (if enabled) support interest-based advertising.

You can control cookies in your browser and via our cookie banner/preferences. Disabling non-essential cookies may affect some features.

4) How we use information (purposes)

We use information to:

  • Provide and operate the Service;

  • Deliver content you request (e.g., checklists) and send value-first emails you asked for;

  • Comply with CASL: every email includes our identification and a one-click unsubscribe;

  • Understand and improve our content and site performance (analytics);

  • Secure the Service and prevent fraud/abuse;

  • Comply with law and enforce our policies.

We do not sell personal information.

5) Lawful bases & consent (Canada; other regions where applicable)

We collect, use, and disclose personal information with knowledge and consent for purposes a reasonable person would consider appropriate (PIPEDA). Depending on context, we rely on:

  • Consent (e.g., newsletter opt-in, cookie preferences);

  • Legitimate interests (e.g., security, analytics proportional to purpose);

  • Contract (if you request a specific resource/communication);

  • Legal obligations (e.g., recordkeeping).

You may withdraw consent at any time (unsubscribe or adjust cookie settings), subject to legal/contractual limits and reasonable notice.

6) Online behavioral advertising (OBA) & analytics

  • Analytics: We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) for aggregate site metrics. We do not merge GA4 data with personally identifying info we hold.

  • Interest-based ads (future-facing): If we enable OBA, we and partners may use cookies/IDs to infer interests and show more relevant content or ads on our site or others.

  • Your choices: You can opt out of interest-based advertising via browser settings, device advertising ID settings, and recognized industry tools (e.g., Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada/AdChoices). You can also block/clear cookies.

7) Disclosures of personal information

We may disclose information to:

  • Service Providers that process data for us (Wix hosting/CMS, GA4 analytics, MailerLite email automation, and affiliate platforms);

  • Authorities where required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security;

  • Successors in a business transaction (e.g., merger or asset transfer), subject to appropriate safeguards;

  • Aggregated/de-identified data: we may share insights that do not identify individuals.

We are not responsible for third-party sites (retailers/affiliate partners). Review their privacy policies before providing information to them.

8) International transfers

Our Service Providers may process data outside Canada (e.g., U.S./EU). We use reputable providers and apply contractual or other safeguards appropriate to the transfer. Foreign laws may allow authorities to access information in certain circumstances.

9) Retention

We retain personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described (or as required by law). Analytics and email engagement data are kept according to our tools’ configurable retention periods and then deleted or aggregated.

10) Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the information (e.g., access controls, encryption in transit where supported, least-privilege). No method is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11) Accuracy & minimization

We take reasonable steps to keep personal information accurate, complete, and up to date and to limit collection and retention to what is necessary.

12) Your rights & choices

- Canada (PIPEDA)

Subject to law, you may access and request correction of your personal information, and withdraw consent (unsubscribe or adjust cookie preferences). We will respond within a reasonable time.

- EU/UK and other regions (if applicable)

If you are in a region with similar privacy rights, you may (subject to law) request access, rectification, erasure, portability, restriction, or object to certain processing. We will honor valid requests where we are subject to that law.

Controls you can use anytime
  • Unsubscribe from emails via the link in any message.

  • Cookie controls in our banner/preferences and your browser.

  • Device settings for advertising IDs (limit ad tracking / reset ID).

  • Do Not Track: browsers may send DNT signals; we currently do not respond to DNT, but you can use the controls above.

13) Children’s privacy

Our Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

14) Links to other websites

The Service links to third-party sites and services we do not control (e.g., retailers). Their practices are governed by their own policies. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.

15) Copyright “Notice-and-Notice” (Canada)

If you believe material on our site infringes your copyright, email us with: (1) identification of the work, (2) the allegedly infringing URL(s), (3) your contact details, and (4) a good-faith statement of unauthorized use. We may forward and act on notices consistent with Canada’s Notice-and-Notice regime.

16) Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy periodically. When we post changes, we update the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be highlighted on this page or by email (if appropriate). Your continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
